MECHANISMS FOR IDENTIFYING IMPLICIT INFORMATION IN THE CONTEXT OF DEFAMATION AND THE DISSEMINATION OF FALSE INFORMATION IN FORENSIC LINGUISTIC EXPERTISE

Elbek Elmurodovich Kurbanov ,

Abstract

This article examines the mechanisms for identifying implicit information in contentious texts involving defamation and the dissemination of false information within the context of forensic linguistic analysis. A primary challenge in determining the defamatory nature of a text is that negative information is often conveyed not through direct accusations, but rather through allusion, presupposition, evaluative units, ironical expressions, and contextual meaning. Consequently, analyzing such texts in forensic linguistics requires attention not only to the lexical meanings of words but also to the statement's claim to factuality, its verifiability, its communicative intent, and its pragmatic impact on the addressee. The study outlines the linguistic indicators that constitute defamatory content, the semantic-pragmatic devices that generate implicit information, and the key criteria for expert analysis. The findings facilitate the objective assessment of cases involving the dissemination of false information, the distinction between facts and evaluative opinions, and the assurance of a scientifically grounded basis for expert conclusions.

Keywords

forensic linguistic analysis, defamation, false information, implicit information, claim to factuality, evaluative statement, presupposition, pragmatic analysis, conflict discourse, expert conclusion.
