WAQF DEEDS IN TURKESTAN IN THE 19TH–20TH CENTURIES

Abstract

This article analyzes the history of waqf deeds in Turkestan during the 19th–20th centuries, their role in society, and their socio-economic significance. Waqf deeds—documents that regulated the allocation of charitable funds to various sectors of society, including madrasahs, mosques, and other social institutions—played an important role in the cultural and economic life of Turkestan during that period. The article examines the formation and structure of waqf deeds, their influence on social life, as well as the specific characteristics of waqf practices in Turkestan in the 19th–20th centuries.
