This article studies the forms of alternative placement of children deprived of parental care in the Republic of Uzbekistan, in particular, the theoretical and legal foundations of the institution of adoption. The article analyzes the social and legal characteristics of adoption, the latest legislative developments in the field, and the scientific views of civil scientists. The principle of the primacy of the interests of the child and the socio-psychological significance of adoption are revealed on the basis of documentary sources.
