INTUITION IN WESTERN PHILOSOPHY

This article explores the evolution of the concept of intuition within the Western philosophical tradition. It analyzes the transition from the ancient understanding of intuition as the highest form of intellectual contemplation to early modern rationalism, Kantian criticism, and the intuitionism of the early 20th century. Special attention is paid to the distinction between discursive and intuitive cognition, as well as the role of intuition in modern epistemology. The study covers the "rehabilitation" of intuition in Husserl’s phenomenology and its transformation in contemporary analytical and experimental philosophy (x-phi). The author concludes that intuition remains the fundamental "anchor" of the cognitive process, serving as the basis for logical axioms and ethical judgments.
