The article is devoted to the economic transformation of Turkestan in the late XIX - early XX centuries with the consideration of the role of agricultural and industrial partnerships in the integration of the region into the economy of the Russian Empire. The main attention is paid to the study of the activities of the Turkestan Agricultural and Industrial Partnership and its influence on cotton growing and industrial development.

The novelty of the study is to take a fresh look at the problems of non-cotton agricultural enterprises, such as sugar beet production, and their limited success.

The results of the study show that despite attempts to expand agriculture, cotton remained the dominant crop due to its profitability

The study concludes by noting the key role of economic partnerships in shaping Turkestan’s colonial economy and increasing its dependence on Russian industrial and financial institutions.
