THE PHENOMENON OF THE CONCEPT OF CYBERSPORT, ITS ORIGIN AND STAGES OF DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

Cybersport is a system of professional competitions based on video games, which has become widely popular worldwide. It is shown that its phenomenon is associated with the development of digital technologies, the widespread use of the Internet and the popularity of interactive games. The author argues that the origin of cybersport dates back to the 1970s and 1980s, when the first tournaments were held, and that since the 2000s it has been formed as a commercial sector and developed internationally. The author's independent research proves that while traditional sports require physical activity and strength, cybersport mainly emphasizes the development of mental agility, strategic thinking and quick decision-making skills. It is also shown that this phenomenon is reshaping the concepts of labor, communication and competition in society.
