This article, based on materials from the Manuscripts and Publications Department of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, presents the traditional games and entertainments of the Kyrgyz people. The materials examined are stored under the following numbers: 320, 342, 359, 394, 506, 527, and 528. Most of these have been published in periodicals and specialized literature and have been used in coursework, theses, master's papers, and other scholarly works. The study is built on information collected by the “manaschi” (epic storyteller) and genealogist Aktan Tynybekov, housed under the double code 134 (342) in the Manuscripts Department.  The materials provided by the author have been systematically categorized into the following subgroups: a) equestrian games and competitions; b) domestic games and entertainments; c) games involving the use of ankle bones (alchiks).  Due to space limitations, the article omits materials related to domestic games and focuses on equestrian games, competitions, and games with “alchiks”. The article supplements and comments on the manuscript author's work by highlighting analogs of Kyrgyz games among other peoples. The rules for conducting games and competitions are described in detail, including the roles of participants and organizers, such as announcers, judges, trainers, and spectators. Tools and other essential details required for the games and competitions are also described. Possible historical roots of the games' origins are explored. Many archival records have expanded the list of traditional games and entertainments and have been introduced into academic circulation.
