This article examines the role of investigative journalism in the system of public control in the Republic of Uzbekistan, its normative-legal foundations and institutional mechanisms, as well as the laws and regulations adopted during the years of independence. The legal status of mass media and their importance in strengthening civil society are analyzed on a scientific basis. Special attention is paid to the role of investigative journalism in ensuring transparency, combating corruption, increasing the openness of state bodies’ activities, and protecting the rights and interests of citizens.
