THE HISTORY OF THE GAS INDUSTRY IN UZBEKISTAN DURING THE EARLY YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE

Abstract

This article analyzes the reforms, modernization processes, and strategic development of Uzbekistan’s oil and gas industry implemented since the early years of independence. The study indicates that the slow introduction of market mechanisms, high domestic consumption, low energy efficiency, the deterioration of the pipeline network, and the limited geography of exports are the main factors hindering the development of the sector.
