THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL FOUNDATIONS FOR CLASSIFYING THE INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE OF NAMANGAN REGION

The article classifies Namangan’s intangible cultural heritage according to UNESCO domains as well as functional, structural, semantic–symbolic, socio–cultural, territorial, and historical criteria. As a result, Chust skullcap–making, Chust knife–making, Navruz, sumalak preparation, wedding and circumcision rituals, oral traditions, katta ashula, lapar, crafts, and master–apprentice traditions are examined as important forms of the region’s intangible cultural heritage.
