FOLKLORE AND HISTORICAL HERITAGE: THE EXAMPLE OF THE KASHKADARYA AND SURKHANDARYA REGIONS

Abstract

This article analyzes the role of folklore performance in the Surkhandarya and Kashkadarya regions as a mechanism of social heritage on the example of the 20th century. The mechanisms of transmitting values, norms, knowledge, and experience between generations through folklore are studied. Work songs, bakhshi art, dance traditions, and musical instruments are examined as different channels of social heritage. The impact of social changes in the 20th century (Sovietization, independence, globalization) on this mechanism is analyzed. Issues of the weakening of the traditional social heritage mechanism and the formation of new mechanisms are also covered.
