The European Union and the Republic of Korea are important trading partners, with Korea being the EU's ninth largest export market for goods and the EU being Korea's third largest export destination. Both countries signed a free trade agreement that entered into force at the end of 2011. In addition, South Korea is the only country in the world to have three agreements covering economy, politics and security since 2020
