TRENDS AND WESTERN INFLUENCE OF POST-INDEPENDENCE INDIAN LITERATURE
Surya Kumari P ,Abstract
“The influence of Western literature is evident in the backdrop of the development of various trends in Indian literature. Indian literary creativity is shaped by Western ideologies. However, the reality is twofold: while the influence of India’s earlier literary traditions, such as Sanskrit, Pali, and Prakrit languages is apparent in modern Indian literature, there’s also a discernible impact of European and American literary thought despite the end of colonial rule. This article aims to highlight the Western influence on the characteristics of post-independence Indian literature, focusing on three main languages: Sanskrit, Hindi, and Telugu.”
Keywords
Indian literature, Sanskrit language, modern Indian languages, post-colonial works, impact of globalization, European influence, creative literary creation and indigenous modernity.
