This article summarizes the concept of “Minor Syntax” (MS), a specialized subfield within Uzbek linguistics. Minor syntax mainly studies syntactic phenomena that function at a level lower than that of traditional sentence-level syntax (often referred to as “Major Syntax” or “Macro Syntax”). It focuses on non-predicative linguistic units that do not represent complete thoughts and explores their internal structures. The main objects of study in minor syntax include derived simple words (with particular attention to their internal morphemic relationships), compound words, idiomatic expressions, paired words, reduplicated words, and descriptive expressions. This field investigates the structure of linguistic units that are too complex for a simple lexical list but not extensive enough for traditional sentence-level syntactic analysis.
