The author delineates the differences between terminology and a standard dictionary, emphasizing its significance in science, technology, information technology, and translation studies. The paper analyzes the primary sources for terminological research, including dictionaries, regulatory documents, and computational linguistics tools (Sketch Engine, TerMine). Furthermore, it examines the impact of Eugen Wüster’s "General Theory of Terminology" and the views of the Prague Linguistic School on terminological evolution. Semantic, syntactic, and morphological classifications of terms are discussed through practical lenses, such as the UK Supreme Court judgments.
