ENHANCING ENGLISH GRAMMAR INSTRUCTION THROUGH MODERN MOBILE APPLICATIONS

Rita Seilkhanova ,

Abstract

The integration of modern digital technologies into English language teaching has transformed traditional grammar instruction from passive memorization into an interactive learning process. The main objective of this study is to examine the effectiveness and practical impact of mobile applications, specifically the British Council’s LearnEnglish Grammar and Elementary English, on learners’ grammatical accuracy and engagement. To achieve this objective, a qualitative analytical approach was employed to systematically analyze the structural features, activity types, level-based task variety, diagnostic feedback mechanisms, and exam-focused preparation strategies offered by both applications. The results indicate that varied interactive task formats, such as sentence reordering, word labeling, visual aids, and self-paced diagnostic assessments, significantly improve learners’ structural accuracy, diagnostic self-awareness, and preparation for standardized English proficiency exams such as IELTS and TOEFL. Furthermore, combining offline theoretical instruction with dynamic digital practice yields optimal learning outcomes across diverse proficiency levels. In conclusion, modern mobile educational tools serve as valuable assets for contemporary language educators, making grammar instruction more engaging, accessible, and practical while bridging foundational language theory and real-world communicative competence.
