The article provides a systematic analysis of the formation methods and structural organization of chess terms in the Uzbek language. The author examines chess terminology as a unity of Arabic-Persian, European and native layers, distinguishes the thematic-semantic groups of terms and describes their formation by semantic, morphological and syntactic means, as well as by calquing and borrowing. Simple, derived, compound and multi-word terms are distinguished, the structural models of multi-word terms are identified, cases of synonymy and variability are analysed, and five criteria for the normalization of the terminology are substantiated.
