The article examines the grammatical forms and communicative functions of Uzbek–English code-switching in digital media texts by means of contextual analysis. The material comprises a public LinkedIn post about a technology project, an informational article on the IT Park website and a news item published by Kun.uz. Drawing on the interactional approach of J. Gumperz and P. Auer, the structural typologies of S. Poplack, C. Myers-Scotton and P. Muysken, and research on networked multilingualism, the author proposes a four-step diagnostic procedure that separates code-switching proper from loanwords, translation glosses and retained proper names. The analysis distinguishes intersentential switching, in which an independent English utterance closes the post and invites the audience to follow further updates, from intrasentential insertion, in which an English noun phrase naming a professional group is embedded in the Uzbek matrix frame with Uzbek plural and postposition. It is shown that neither the presence of a foreign item nor its combination with an Uzbek affix is sufficient to determine its status. A typology of four bilingual phenomena and an annotation scheme for an Uzbek–English digital media corpus are proposed. The findings are limited to a qualitative analysis of the selected materials.
