The article examines theoretical approaches to studying the SCO and ASEAN as regional organizations. The urgency of studying two organizations within the framework of the theory of “new regionalism” is substantiated. A comparative analysis of the commonalities and differences between the SCO and ASEAN is presented using the SWOT analysis method.
