
NATIONAL AWAKENING IN INDIA AND ITS ENLIGHTENMENT CHARACTERISTICS

The emergence of ideas opposing colonial policy, the awakening of national identity, the spread of enlightenment thought, and the pursuit of a modern educational system became key aspects of national awakening in Indian society. This article analyzes the national awakening processes that took place in India in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, as well as their educational and intellectual characteristics. Special attention is given to the activities of several reformers and educators, and the role their ideas played in the awakening of Indian society. The article also scientifically substantiates the close relationship between India’s national awakening and religious, cultural, and political factors, with a particular emphasis on the role of educational movements in the struggle for independence.
