This article analyzes the strategy of the State of Qatar to strengthen its global diplomatic position against the backdrop of the protracted crisis in Afghanistan. Drawing on the theories of small-state diplomacy, mediation, and humanitarian diplomacy, the article focuses on how Qatar’s engagement with the Afghan issue is strengthening its role in the international system. The opening of the Taliban political office in Doha in 2013, the US-Taliban agreement in 2020, and Qatar’s central role in evacuation and humanitarian operations after 2021 have established the country as a credible negotiating platform. The article analyzes the pragmatic and multi-vector nature of Qatar’s foreign policy, its coordinated cooperation with the US, the European Union, the UN, and regional actors.
