The article highlights the problems associated with the focus on cotton growing in our country by studying the issue of its becoming a priority sector and its consequences. The history and significance of cotton cultivation and its processing in our country, as well as its influence on other sectors, have been studied. The article, based on archival documents in the funds of the National State Archive of Uzbekistan, scientific research by foreign and domestic researchers, monographs, and brochures, is dedicated to the establishment of cotton monoculture in our country and its consequences, and includes conclusions on the topic.
