Abstract

This article examines the behavior of voters as subjects of political processes through the lens of rational choice theory. The objective of the study is to identify the significance of personal interests, costs, and expected benefits in the decision-making process of voters. The research analyzes the "utility function" of the voter and provides a theoretical basis for the reasons why, in certain cases, citizens abstain from participating in elections (abstentionism).
