SOURCES FOR THE STUDY OF ASSYRIAN HISTORY: AN ANALYSIS OF THE LEGACY OF ANTIQUITY AND ARCHAEOLOGICAL RESEARCH
Odina Abdujalilova ,Abstract
This study presents a comprehensive analysis of the source system used to explore the history of the Assyrian state, which held a distinctive place in the history of the Ancient World. The article provides a detailed overview of information from the works of ancient authors, as well as the material and written outcomes of excavations conducted in the major centers of Assyria. Furthermore, it offers a scientific analysis of the archaeological expeditions that commenced in the mid-19th century, epigraphic discoveries, legal documents, and the approaches of fundamental historical-methodological schools that emerged within global Assyriology.
