THE FORM OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT IN KARAKALPAKS AND ITS REFLECTION IN SOURCES

This article examines the system of local administration in Karakalpak society in the 19th century and its reflection in the sources. In particular, the role of officials such as biy, yuzbashi, naib and yasavulbashi in managing Karakalpak society and their duties are analyzed. Also, the changes in this system under the rule of the khanate, based on the sources in the Khiva state archive, are related to the activities of the Karakalpak society in military and administrative matters. The article will be interesting for readers interested in the political and social history of the Karakalpak people.
