This article explores conversational implicature as a key mechanism of implicit meaning in literary discourse and translation. It examines how indirectness, understatement, and contextual inference shape interpretation, revealing the interaction between linguistic form, cultural context, and reader perception. The study also discusses challenges of preserving pragmatic equivalence when transferring implied meanings across languages.
