The research is aimed at analyzing the historical and socio-cultural prerequisites for the formation of the politeness system, its grammatical and lexical mechanisms, as well as functional characteristics in modern communicative situations. Special attention is paid to the multilevel structure of polite forms, their pragmatic application and role in interpersonal relationships.
