“TIJORATDA SOCHI OQARGAN…”: THE PROCESS OF SEMANTIC CHANGE IN POLYSEMANTIC PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS
Shokhsanam Alimjanova ,Abstract
This article analyzes the semantic transformations of polysemantic phraseological units in the Uzbek language. Using a contextual-semantic approach, the polysemantic nature of phraseological units such as “tobi yo‘q”, “tili chiqmoq”, “taxtaga tortmoq”, “suvi qochgan”, “soya solmoq” and “soch(i) oqarmoq” is studied and analyzed. The primary literal meaning of each phraseological unit is determined, and the figurative, metaphorical, and pragmatic meanings that arise under the influence of various contexts are revealed. Based on these analyses, the semantic characteristics and flexibility of polysemantic phraseological units in the Uzbek language are identified.
