THE ROLE OF TERMS IN LINGUISTICS

This article examines the factors influencing changes in the lexical composition of a language, the role of terms as the core of its lexical system, and their significance in linguistics. It also analyzes the stages of terminology development on a global scale and highlights its distinctive characteristics. The approaches of Western and Eastern schools of terminology, as well as the ideas proposed by several prominent linguists, are presented in a consistent manner.
