SEMANTIC-PRAGMATIC ANALYSIS OF JAPANESE AND ENGLISH PROVERBS

This article presents a comparative analysis of Japanese and English proverbs, considering their semantic, cultural and stylistic aspects and the factors that are relied on in the translation process.
Although the Japanese and English peoples have different cultural traditions, values and their own customs, the examples of the embodiment of universal human values, such as hard work, patience, friendship, honesty, and appreciation of time, and the significant differences in their language expression and image system are analyzed.
