THE EMERGENCE, DEVELOPMENT, STUDY, AND TYPES OF THE TERM CONNOTATION
S.A. Kholmamatova ,Abstract
This article provides a theoretical and practical analysis of the concept of connotation and its role in linguistics. In addition to the lexical (denotative) meaning of a word, the additional meanings—connotative layers—are examined in terms of emotional, evaluative, stylistic, symbolic, and cultural aspects. The study offers a comparative analysis of the views of local and foreign scholars, and various forms of connotation are illustrated through examples from Uzbek literature. As a result, it is scientifically demonstrated that connotation expands the semantic potential of a word and serves as an important linguistic phenomenon revealing the interaction between language and culture.
Keywords
