TRANSLATION EQUIVALENTS OF TWO-COMPONENT LINGUISTIC TERMS IN ENGLISH–UZBEK PARALLEL TEXTS

Madina Askarova ,

Abstract

This article analyzes translation equivalence of two-component linguistic terms in English-Uzbek parallel texts based on corpus methodology. 156 two-component terms extracted from a corpus of 4400 parallel sentences were examined. Results demonstrate that 89.1% of terms exhibit full semantic equivalence, 8.3% show partial equivalence, and 2.6% underwent semantic transformation. Using N-gram model and concordance analysis, linguistic patterns (noun+noun, adjective+noun, verb+noun) and translation strategies were identified. The research employs corpus-based term extraction methodology and provides practical significance for resolving terminological equivalence issues.
