A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF WORD-FORMATION PROCESSES IN MODERN ENGLISH AND UZBEK

Dilbar Adkhamovna Ibragimova ,

Abstract

This article analyzes the processes of word formation in modern English and Uzbek using the IMRAD model (Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion). The study examined affixation, compounding, conversion, abbreviations, and semantic word-formation methods from typological and functional perspectives. The results showed that in English, conversion and prefixation are highly productive, whereas in Uzbek, due to its agglutinative structure, suffixation plays a leading role. The findings have scientific and practical significance for comparative linguistics, translation studies, and language teaching methodology.
