Abstract

This article examines the stages of development of modern Saudi novel writing, highlighting its formation, evolution, and distinctive features within the broader context of Arabic literature. The study explores the transformation of the Saudi novel from its early didactic and traditional forms to more complex and artistically mature works influenced by social, cultural, and historical changes. Particular attention is paid to the impact of modernization, globalization, and literary interaction with other Arab countries. The article also analyzes the emergence of new themes such as identity, social issues, and individual experience, as well as the growing contribution of women writers to the development of the genre. Based on selected literary works and scholarly approaches, the main stages of Saudi novelistic evolution are identified and classified.
