The article analyses the day-cycle lexicon of the Khorezm dialect group of Uzbek on the basis of existing dialectological sources. It is shown that two layers operate in parallel within the system of time designation: a layer tied to the Islamic prayer schedule and a natural layer anchored in the solar cycle. The two-layer system, largely worn away in standard Uzbek, is preserved in fuller and more active form in the Khorezm dialects.
