The article examines the nominative-informational, argumentative, evidential, comparative, chronotopic, evaluative, intensifying and attention-directing functions of numerical indicators in English and Uzbek media discourse. Numerical expressions are treated not merely as grammatical-semantic devices denoting quantity but as discourse resources that construct factuality, calibrate credibility, represent scale and dynamics, and guide audience interpretation. The study combines comparative, contextual, linguopragmatic and discourse analysis of authentic media examples with verified scholarship on numeral semantics, journalistic numeracy and media language. The findings show that numerical precision is rhetorically powerful but does not automatically guarantee neutrality: selection, rounding, comparison baselines, attribution and contextualization substantially affect interpretation.
