SOCIO-ECONOMIC SITUATION IN FRANCE AFTER THE CIVIL WARS
Parvina Aslamkulova ,Abstract
In 1783, the War of Independence in North America ended. This was the last war in the 18th century, in which France invested huge amounts of money. Since 1788, commercial affairs, trade, and industrial production have stagnated. The summer of this year was lean. It was an unusually harsh winter for France: many rivers froze, frosts destroyed vineyards. Unprecedented disasters, famine, and hardship have befallen the masses of villages and towns. Driven to despair, the peasants left their homes, went wandering, and raised riots. Peasant uprisings broke out. In the cities, the starving poor were smashing up food stalls and warehouses.
