CLASSIFICATION OF NEWSPAPERS AND MAGAZINES OPERATING IN SURKHANDARYA DURING THE INDEPENDENCE PERIOD OF UZBEKISTAN

This article analyzes the formation and developmental stages of the mass media system in Surkhandarya region after Uzbekistan gained independence, focusing on the structure and evolution of local newspapers and magazines. It also examines the thematic orientation and classification of popular regional publications, including political, social, cultural, educational, and youth-oriented newspapers and journals. The study highlights the role of Surkhandarya’s press during the independence period in promoting openness, freedom of speech, and a sense of national pride within society.
