This article analyzes the significance of cooperation between the European Union and the Central Asian states in the context of changes in the global geopolitical order and growing instability in international relations. Particular attention is paid to the policy of the Federal Republic of Germany toward Central Asia, its proactive role within the European Union, and the leading importance of economic cooperation in bilateral relations. The article examines the stages of formation of relations between Germany and the Central Asian countries, the European Union’s regional strategies, as well as the geopolitical, economic, and resource-based interests of the EU in the region. In addition, existing challenges in cooperation—especially the dominance of raw material–oriented economic relations and the priority of the resource factor—are critically assessed.
