This article analyzes the important aspects of translating idioms in English and Uzbek, methods for preserving their meanings, as well as the difficulties encountered in the translation process. Idioms are stable expressions that express cultural characteristics and are difficult to translate directly. Therefore, they are translated not only by a literal approach, but also by contextual and meaning-based approaches. The article provides examples from English and Uzbek and highlights effective translation strategies.

In the current 21st century, the growing processes of globalization, when it is possible for a person to live and work freely and safely in society, is one of the most pressing topics of our time. If we take into account how many of the activities of international organizations, policies and programs of states are focused on this topic, we can see that members of today's society have not yet achieved stability and general well-being.

Although the priority laws and religious rules are always aimed at ensuring a happy and prosperous life for people, it can be seen that the principles of tolerance are not given enough attention in practice. In this article we tried to analyze this situation using the example of the history of Turkey and Iran, since they, like most countries in the world, have gone through a similar experience. Accordingly, a brief study of this issue allowed us to present certain conclusions.

In linguistics, figurative units, that is, stylistic figures (metaphor, metonymy, personification, simile, etc.), are recognized as powerful tools that demonstrate the logical and aesthetic power of language. In artistic and literary speech, these units not only expand the expressive capabilities of the language, but also reflect the worldview, national and cultural values, as well as the historical and psychological state of the people. The study of figurative units in English and Uzbek allows us to understand the structural features of the language more deeply, to determine their semantic and pragmatic functions, as well as to study the differences between different cultures. This article analyzes the semantic composition, lexicographic interpretation and role of figurative units in the English and Uzbek languages ​​in the cultural context. In addition, the problems that arise in the translation process of figurative units and the specific features of lexicographic research are also considered.
