Abstract

The presented paper describes a review of the literature on medicines that are widely used in clinical practice for diseases of the liver and biliary tract. In particular, the classification of hepatoprotectors, mechanisms of action, indications for use and contraindications, as well as analyses for side effects and disadvantages arising from the use are described. Also, in the analyses carried out, the main emphasis was placed on the properties of natural or synthetic agents and antioxidants, obtained mainly on the basis of plants, which restore the decay of liver cells, protecting it from endogenous and exogenous toxins. At the same time, brief information is also provided on the research work carried out in our country regarding measures for the diagnosis and treatment of liver diseases. It is noteworthy that all the analyzed data are presented in the form of a table
